Court handed counsel Dept. 24 procedures. Mr. Padda advised discovery closes October 14th and they have discussed settlement in the past and wanted to take more discovery. Mr. Padda stated to he does anticipate filing motions in Limine. Court advised counsel he is adhering to the 2.74 conference requirements and the Court requires that you have your 2.74 conference regarding motions in limine no less than two weeks before the motions are due to be filed. Mr. Padda advised he would like jury questionnaires. Court requested the jury questionnaires 30 days prior to the trial stack date for review. Counsel agreed on five to seven trial days. Court advised he can order a jury panel of 75 but he can only accommodate 54. Court noted counsel has entered a stipulation and order to re-open discovery and closing on October 14th. Counsel agreed. Court asked counsel to bring their calendar for their best available dates on December 6th and as well as their key witnesses and out of state witnesses. COURT ORDERED, Trial dates STAND.

Court noted that there was a Mediation on 5/26/15 that was not successful, however, since then counsel have resolved some of the issues raised at the Mediation. Colloquy between Court and counsel regarding mediation. Mr. Padda and Mr. Freeman advised no issues were resolved during mediation, but they have a good working relationship. The Trial Readiness Handout for Department 24 was provided to counsel in open court. Following colloquy between Court and counsel regarding status of the case and discovery; counsel anticipated five days for trial and 60 jurors for the jury panel. Mr. Padda stated that he has four (4) Experts and seven to eight (7-8) lay witnesses. Mr. Padda further stated that discovery is not complete but counsel are still within the discovery deadline. There is one deposition that needs to be taken which is set for next week. Upon Court's inquiry, Mr. Padda advised settlement talks are still ongoing. Court further advised counsel to bring their schedules to the Pre-Trial Conference as well as their Experts and key witnesses and the best five days that will work for them on the stack. COURT ORDERED, trial date STANDS.

Mr. Freeman advised the Court Mediation is scheduled for tomorrow, 5/29/15. Court noted that the trial stack begins on 11/16/15. The purpose of today's hearing is for the purpose of counsel informing the Court if they have any scheduling conflicts with regard to availability of their witnesses and Experts or their own trial calendars. Mr. Freedman stated that Mediation was pushed off a couple of times and is set for tomorrow before David Wall. There are a couple of outstanding depositions and cost saving matters that were pushed aside. COURT ORDERED, this matter is CONTINUED two weeks to see what happens at the Mediation hearing.
