The Hon. Cynthia L. Beaman is a judge for the 15th Judicial District Circuit Court in Oregon. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ted Kulongoski in 2007.
The 15th Judicial District encompasses Coos County and Curry County.
Beaman earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She then completed a J.D. at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. She is admitted to practice in California (1998) and Oregon (1998).
After graduating from law school, Beaman began her legal career as a trial attorney for Southwestern Oregon Public Defenders. She served in that capacity until 2001, at which time she opened her own private practice as a sole practitioner. She specialized in family law and criminal defense matters.
Her memberships have included the Curry County Bar Association (president), the Curry County Local Public Safety Coordinating Council, the Juvenile Engagement & Leadership Institute Reasonable Efforts Group, and the Opportunities for Lawyers in Oregon Mentorship Program. She has also been involved with Brookings United Soccer Club and Brookings Youth Activities (president).
Raised in Farmington, Missouri, Beaman attended Farmington High School.
