Hon. D. Clay Mowdy is an associate judge for the Coal County District Court (District 25) in Oklahoma. He was elected to the bench in 2006.
He received a B.S. in geology from Oklahoma State University in 1980. Mowdy went on to complete a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1984.
When not on the bench, he is a rancher and also runs and operates a Wild Horse Sanctuary and Ecotourism Project along with his wife, Kit. The project, which is in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management, involves caring for a herd of wild mustangs. He and his wife have three grown children. The family attends the First United Methodist Church in Coalgate.
Mowdy attended Coalgate High School and then the New Mexico Military Institute (1976 to 1977).
