The Hon. Daman H. Cantrell is a district judge for the Oklahoma Fourteenth Judicial District. He was elected to the bench in 2006.
Cantrell has held assignments as the Chief Judge of the Civil Division. In that capacity, he has worked to streamline and improve the civil court rules for Tulsa County.
Prior to his election, Cantrell was a special judge for the Tulsa County District Court, a position to which he was named in 1999. Before that, he spent time as an assistant public defender for the Office of the Public Defender in Oklahoma County and Tulsa County.
Cantrell earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1985.
After graduating from law school, Cantrell began his legal career as an assistant attorney general for the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General. He spent the next few years specializing in federal court litigation before becoming a law clerk to the Hon. Doyle W. Argo of the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
His memberships have included the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Owasso Rotary Club.
He is a recipient of the President’s Award from the Tulsa County Bar Association (2007, 2009) and the Alma Wilson Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association (2005).
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Cantrell is the son of a welder and a homemaker. He attended Mustang High School, where he earned the title of Oklahoma State Debate Champion.
