The Hon. David M. Barry (Ret.) was a justice of the New York State Supreme Court in the Seventh Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the Supreme Court in 1998. Barry lost his bid for re-election in 2012.
During his tenure on the Supreme Court, Barry served as an acting administrative judge and supervising judge. He began his judicial career as a town justice for the Greece Town Court. Barry also served as an acting judge for the Rochester City Court and an acting town justice for the Town of Gates.
He received a B.S. from Niagara University. Barry went on to complete a J.D. at Widener University Law School.
Prior to joining the bench, he was in private practice for twenty-two years. Barry also served as an assistant district attorney.
His memberships included the Seventh Judicial District Supreme Court Justices Association (past-president), the New York State Jury Trial Project, the New York State Bar Association, the Monroe County Bar Association, the New York State Magistrates Association, and the Monroe County Magistrates Association.
Barry also served on the Board of Directors of Greece Community Baseball and Bishop Kearney High School.
After retiring from the Supreme Court bench, Barry returned to the Greece Town Court after being elected to the seat in 2013. He remained on the Town Court bench until stepping down in 2020.
