The Hon. Donald A. Williams is a judge for the Ulster County Court in the Third Judicial District of New York. He was elected to the bench in 2010.
Williams earned a B.A. in history from Seton Hall University in 1975. He then completed a J.D. at Albany Law School in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Williams began his legal career in the Office of the District Attorney of Ulster County. He started as an assistant district attorney, rising through the ranks to become chief assistant district attorney in 1983 and district attorney in 1999.
Just prior to his election to the bench, Williams worked as an associate at David Clegg & Associates in 2009.
Williams has been instrumental in establishing the Kingston Domestic Violence Court, the Ulster Regional Drug Court, the U.C. Alternatives to Incarceration Program, and the Ulster County’s DWI Impact Panel.
He is registered as a Republican.
