The Hon. Douglas E. Drummond is a district judge for the Oklahoma Fourteenth Judicial District. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014.
Drummond earned a bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism (1984) and a master’s degree in mass communication and media studies (1986) from Oklahoma State University, working as a reporter for the Tulsa Tribune. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law (1991) as well as an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Oklahoma State University (1996). His doctoral dissertation examined free speech rights of employed faculty members.
After graduating from law school, Drummond began his legal career as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. He served in that capacity until 1995. Then, in 1997, he joined the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure there, he rose through the ranks, quickly becoming First Assistant District Attorney in 2002.
His memberships have included the Oklahoma Bar Association and the Tulsa County Bar Association.
He is a recipient of the Professional Advocate Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association (2008).
