The Hon. Holly V. Broadbent is an associate justice for the Gloucester District Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Deval Patrick on September 12, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ellen Flatley.
Prior to her appointment, Broadbent worked for the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. She started as an assistant district attorney in 1999, quickly rising through the ranks to become Chief of the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Unit two years later.
Broadbent earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 1994. She then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1997.
After graduating from law school, Broadbent began her legal career as a law clerk for Leppo & Leppo. She worked in that capacity until 1998, at which time she joined the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney.
Broadbent was a resident of Marblehead, Massachusetts, at the time of her appointment.
