The Hon. James O. Cox (Ret.) served as a judge for the 12th Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas. Cox joined the bench in 2007. He retired at the conclusion of his term in 2021.
Cox earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Hendrix College in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1977. As a law student, Cox served as a member of the Arkansas Law Review.
He was admitted to the State Bar of Arkansas in 1977.
His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Sebastian County Bar Association, the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He also sat on the Board of Directors for the Greenwood School District.
He is a recipient of the Outstanding Citizen Lawyer Award from the Arkansas Bar Association (1994).
