The Hon. Joe M. Crosby is the master-in-equity for the Georgetown County Equity Court in South Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Sanford in 2008.
Prior to his appointment, Crosby was a partner at the Crosby Law Firm, a law practice he established in 1997. He continues to represent individuals, homeowners associates, and businesses in civil, family, social security, and workers compensation matters.
Crosby earned a bachelor's degree from The Citadel in 1991. He later completed a J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1994.
After graduating from law school, Crosby began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. David Maring of the 9th Judicial Circuit Family Court of South Carolina. He served in that capacity until 1995, at which time he entered into private practice at the Crosby Law Firm.
His memberships have included the Georgetown County Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar. He has also been involved with the Georgetown County Board of Education and the Boy Scouts of America.
Crosby was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He and his wife, Elise, have three children. The family attends Prince George Episcopal Church.
