The Hon. John C. Kennedy (Ret.) served as a judge for the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court. Kennedy was appointed to the bench by Chief Justice Stuart Rabner on September 1, 2011. He retired in 2017.
Kennedy began his judicial career as a judge for the Essex County Superior Court (Vicinage 5), a position to which he was appointed by former Governor Jim McGreevey in 2003. During his tenure there, he sat in the Civil Division (2008 to 2009) and the Criminal Division (2003 to 2008).
He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Vincent College. He then completed a J.D. at Seton Hall Law School, and he served as a Science and Technology Fellow of the Advanced Science and Technology Adjudication Resource Center in Washington, D.C.
