The Hon. Katherine B.L. Platt is a judge for the Chester County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 4, 1997.
Over the course of her judicial career, Platt has held assignments on the Family Court and the Orphans Court. She has also presided over civil and criminal trials.
Platt earned a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College in 1972. She then completed a J.D. at Villanova University, Charles Widger School of Law in 1976.
After graduating from law school, Platt entered into private practice, working at the law firm founded by her father. She specialized in family law, real estate, and commercial lending transactions. Then, in 1980, she became a hearing officer for the Chester County Court of Common Pleas. During her tenure there, she presided over support cases in the Domestic Relations Division and conducted hearings on spousal and child support cases.
Platt is a lifelong resident of Chester County. She attended Agnes Irwin School in Rosement.
