Judge Kevin M. O'Connell: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Kevin M. O'Connell (Ret.) served as a judge for the 227th District Court in Bexar County, Texas. O’Connell was elected to the bench in 2014. He resigned at the conclusion of his term on December 31, 2022.

O’Connell earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. He then completed a J.D. at St. Mary's University School of Law in 1990.

He has been involved with the Park Forest Homeowners Association, the St. Matthew Catholic Church CYO, and the Texas Harp and Shamrock Society.

After graduating from law school, O’Connell began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. He served in that capacity until his election to the bench, holding assignments as Chief of the DWI Task Force and Special Liaison to the San Antonio Police Department.

He is registered as a Republican.
