The Hon. Michael R. Savre (Ret.) served as a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Minnesota. Savre was appointed to the bench in 2004, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. LeRoy W. Yost. He retired in 2017.
The First Judicial District includes Carver County, Dakota County, Goodhue County, Le Sueur County, Scott County, and Sibley County.
Prior to his appointment, Savre was a partner at Gavin, Olson, Savre & Winters, a law firm he joined in 1981. He supplemented his practice with service as a city attorney for the City of Norwood-Young America (1982 to 2004).
Savre earned a bachelor’s degree from Luther College in 1977. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School in 1981.
His memberships have included the Minnesota State Bar Association, the McLeod County State Bar Association, and the Eighth District Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Glencoe Hospital Ethics Committee and the Glencoe Country Club Board.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Savre was raised in Edina. At the time of his appointment, he resided in Glencoe alongside his wife, Janet, and their two children. They attended Christ Lutheran Church.
