The Hon. Rashida A. Adams is an associate justice of the California Second District Court of Appeal (Division Three). She was nominated to the seat by Governor Gavin Newsom in February 2023 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Halim Dhanidina (Ret.). Her nomination was confirmed by the Commission on Judicial Appointments in April 2023.
Prior to her appointment, Adams sat as a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court, a position to which she was appointed by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2017.
She is a registered Democrat.
Adams received her B.A. from Harvard University. She went on to earn her J.D. from Yale Law School.
Adams began her legal career as an associate at the law firms of Bernabei and Katz PLLC from 2002 to 2005, and Caldwell, Leslie, and Proctor PC from 2005 to 2007.
Then, in 2008, Adams became an appellate court attorney for the Second District Court of Appeal. A year later, she rose to the position of senior appellate court attorney, a position she held until being appointed to the Superior Court in 2017.
