Hon. Reid Stewart is a judge for the La Plata County Court in Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis on February 17, 2023, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. A. Nathaniel Baca to the 6th Judicial District Court.
Prior to his appointment, Stewart negotiated and reviewed carrier/broker agreements as a self-employed motor carrier since 2022. Before that, he was a deputy district attorney with the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (2009 to 2022); an associate in the Law Office of Patrick J. Mulligan, P.C. (2002 to 2008); an associate at Stinnett Thiebaud & Remington, LLP (2001 to 2002); and an assistant district attorney with the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office in Texas (1999 to 2001).
Stewart received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995. He went on to complete a J.D. at Texas Wesleyan School of Law in 1998.
Stewart was admitted to practice in Texas (1999), Colorado (2006), the United States Supreme Court, and Oklahoma (2006).
