The Hon. Robert C. Bollinger is a circuit judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Katherine M. McCarthy.
The Sixth Judicial Circuit includes Champaign County, DeWitt County, Douglas County, Macon County, Moultrie County, and Piatt County.
Prior to his election, Bollinger was an associate judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit, a position to which he was named in 2008. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Erickson, Davis, Murphy, Johnson, Griffith & Walsh (1996 to 2008).
Bollinger earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 1993. He then completed a J.D. at Southern Illinois University School of Law in 1996. As a law student, he was the editor-in-chief of the SIU Law Journal.
His memberships have included the Illinois Judges Association and the Decatur Bar Association. He also served as Topic Editor for the Family Law Benchbook for Illinois Judges, and he chaired the Civil Law and Procedure Benchbook for Illinois Judges and the Illinois Judicial College’s Committee on Judicial Education.
Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Bollinger was raised in Chicago, where he attended Hinsdale High School. He and his wife, Jennifer, have four children.
He is registered as a Republican.
