Hon. Roy Sparkman (Ret.) was a judge for the 78th District Court of Texas in Wichita County. He was elected to the bench in 2000.
Prior to his election, Sparkman worked in private practice in Wichita Falls.
He received a B.B.A. from Midwestern University. Sparkman went on to complete a J.D. at Baylor University School of Law in 1976. While a law student, he served as associate editor of the Baylor Law Review.
Sparkman has served as a deacon at First Baptist Church and was the Director and Executive Committee Officer for the Southern Baptist Convention. He also sat as a board member for the Wichita Falls Texas School Board.
The middle of five children, Sparkman was raised in Amarillo and Burkburnett, Texas. As a teenager, he ran a newspaper route, worked at a grocery store, and traveled from Texas to Montana during the wheat harvest to earn extra money. Sparkman and his wife, Donna, have three grown children and nine grandchildren. Following his retirement, Sparkman authored two fictional novels dealing with adversity and religious liberty.
