Hon. Scott McCoy is a judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona.
During his judicial tenure, McCoy has held assignments in the Civil, Juvenile, Criminal, Family, and Probate Courts.
He began his judicial career as a commissioner of the Maricopa County Superior Court in 2005 (2005 to 2009). Before that, McCoy was in private practice. During that time, he was a member of Jennings, Strouss & Salmon (2000 to 2005), an associate and partner in Kirkland & Ellis (1993 to 2000), and an associate at Beus, Gilbert & Morrill (1991 to 1993).
McCoy received a B.S. in business administration from the University of Southern California in 1987. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in 1990.
He has held memberships with the American Bar Association (Judicial Division Mentor Program), the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyers Program, and the Men’s Anti-Violence Network (Executive Committee).
McCoy also sat as a member of the State Bar of Arizona’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and Legal Services Committee.
He was a former volunteer judge for the Phoenix School of Law and the ASU Moot Court and was a faculty member of the Arizona State Bar Course on Professionalism.
