Hon. Siv I. Mjanger is a judge for the 10th Judicial District Court of Minnesota in Washington County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Tim Walz on November 15, 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. John C. Hoffman (Ret.).
The 10th Judicial District includes Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright Counties.
Prior to her appointment, Mjanger was chief of the Criminal Division and the lead sexual assault and vulnerable adult prosecutor with the Washington County Attorney’s Office. She began with the office as an assistant county attorney in 2012. Before that, she practiced as an associate at Bakke Norman (2011 to 2012) and was a former assistant public defender with the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office (2005 to 2011).
Mjanger received a B.A. in economics and Spanish from the University of Minnesota in 2001. She went on to complete a J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 2005. Mjanger was admitted to practice in Minnesota (2005) and Wisconsin (2011).
She served on the Washington County Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Steering Team and the Vulnerable Adult Multidisciplinary Team. Mjanger has also been an advocate for criminal reform, including bail and diversion reform.
