The Hon. Tonia Cutchin is a judge for the Guilford County Superior Court in the 18th Judicial District of the 4th Division in North Carolina. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Roy Cooper on November 10, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Susan Bray.
Prior to her appointment, Cutchin was a judge for the Guilford County District Court.
Cutchin earned a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from North Carolina Central University. She then completed a J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Cutchin spent time as a public defender for the North Carolina Office of Indigent Defense Services. She also worked as an attorney at Capote & Associates.
Cutchin has taught as an assistant professor at Colorado Technical University and an adjunct faculty member at Claremont Lincoln University and John Wesley University.
She is registered as a Democrat.
