The Hon. Windi King is a magistrate for the Lee County Magistrate Court in South Carolina. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Henry McMaster on April 30, 2021.
The magistrate court presides over landlord/tenant hearings, summons and complaint cases (to claim disputed funds), claim and delivery cases (to reclaim property), and public sales of abandoned vehicles. Its magistrates also hear criminal and traffic cases, issue warrants and set bonds, and hold preliminary hearings and transfer cases for the county.
Prior to her appointment, King was a victim’s advocate for the 3rd Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, a position to which she was named in 2017. Before that, she spent time as a court coordinator for the Lee County Clerk of Court (2004 to 2016) as well as a child support specialist with the South Carolina Department of Social Services (1996 to 2004).
King earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina in 1983.
