Hon. Amber N. Patterson is a judge for the Cobb County Juvenile Court in Georgia. She was appointed to the bench by the Cobb County Superior Court judges in August 2016 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Juanita Stedman (Ret.).
At the time of her appointment, Patterson was a Guardian ad Litem attorney for the Cobb County Family Dependency Court and the Cobb County Superior Court (2011 to 2016). As such, she represented and counseled children in deprivation hearings.
Before that, Patterson was a special assistant attorney general associate with the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services (2010 to 2011), where she was responsible for representing the department in deprivation hearings.
Patterson received a bachelor’s degree in education from Valdosta State University. She went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law.
After graduating from law school, Patterson began her legal career as a Guardian ad Litem with the Alachua County Family/Civil Justice Center in 2002. Then, in 2004, she began an externship with the CASA Program, working in that capacity until becoming a staff attorney for the Chief Judge of the Fulton County Juvenile Court the following year.
Patterson later served as a child advocate attorney in deprivation hearings in the Fulton County Juvenile Court beginning in 2007. She speaks regularly on the subjects of juvenile law and child advocacy.
Patterson and her husband reside in East Cobb with their two children.
