The Hon. Andrew W. Gould (Ret.) served as a justice for the Arizona Supreme Court. Gould was appointed to the bench by Governor Doug Ducey on November 28, 2016. He retired on April 1, 2021.
Prior to his appointment, Gould was a judge for the Arizona Court of Appeals (Division One), a position to which he was appointed by former Governor Jan Brewer in 2011. Before that, he spent time on the Yuma County Superior Court (2001 to 2011). During his tenure in Yuma County, he held assignments as the Presiding Judge of Yuma County (2006 to 2011).
Gould earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Montana in 1986. He then completed a J.D. at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 1990.
After graduating from law school, Gould entered into private practice, handling commercial litigation matters at Snell & Wilmer, Gallagher & Kennedy, and Kern & Wooley. He then became a deputy county attorney for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office before transferring to the Yuma County Attorney’s Office. During his tenure in Yuma County, Gould rose through the ranks, quickly becoming the Chief Deputy County Attorney for the Civil Division in 1999.
His memberships have included the Arizona Judges Association (president).
Raised in Richardson, Texas, Gould and his wife, Connie, have two children. When not presiding over legal matters, Gould volunteered as an adult Bible study teacher, a baseball and football coach, and a finals judge for the We the People competitive advocacy program.
He is registered as a Republican.
