The Hon. Angela J. Badamo is an interim judge for the Criminal Court of the City of New York in New York County. She was designated to the Criminal Court in 2018 by the Hon. Lawrence K. Marks, Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. She was originally appointed to serve as an interim judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York in New York County by Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2017.
Judge Badamo received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1992. She went on to earn her J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1995.
Badamo joined the Legal Aid Society in 1997, where she served as an associate in its Criminal Appeals Bureau until joining the New York State Unified Court System as a court attorney in 2000 assigned to both the Criminal and Civil Courts. In 2004, Badamo became the assistant deputy counsel in the Office of the Chief Administrative Judge. She remained in that capacity until her appointment to the Civil Court in 2017.
