The Hon. Annie P. Claesson-Huseby is a judge for the 9th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mark Dayton on October 4, 2017.
The 9th Judicial District includes Aitkin County, Beltrami County, Cass County, Clearwater County, Crow Wing County, Hubbard County, Itasca County, Kittson County, Koochiching County, Lake of the Woods County, Mahnomen County, Marshall County, Norman County, Pennington County, Polk County, Red Lake County, and Roseau County.
Prior to her appointment, Claesson-Huseby was the County Attorney for Beltrami County, a position to which she was named in 2014. Before that, she spent time as an assistant county attorney (2004 to 2006) and a chief assistant county attorney (2006 to 2014) for the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office.
Claesson-Huseby earned a bachelor’s degree (1998) and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota. She also completed a J.D. at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2001.
After graduating from law school, Claesson-Huseby began her legal career as a staff attorney with the Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota. She served in that capacity until 2004, at which time she joined the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office.
Her memberships have included the Minnesota State Bar Association, the 15th District Bar Association, and the Beltrami County Bar Association. She has also been involved with the Beltrami County DWI Court, the Beltrami County Domestic Violence Court, the Beltrami County Children’s Justice Initiative, the Beltrami County Child Protection Team, the Sons of Norway, and Sunrise Rotary.
Claesson-Huseby was raised in Minnesota’s Iron Range.
