The Hon. Anthony W. Brown is a judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of North Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Bev Perdue in 2009, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of the Hon. Robert A. Evans to District Attorney for the 7th Judicial District.
The 7th Judicial District includes Edgecombe, Nash, and Wilson Counties.
Prior to his appointment, Brown managed his own private practice. Before establishing his law firm, he spent six years as an assistant district attorney with the 7th Judicial District. Brown began his legal career in private practice in Rocky Mount and Oxford.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College in 1973. Brown then completed a J.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 1979.
He was a juvenile court counselor before beginning his legal career.
Brown has served as a church deacon and an attorney for the Nash County Democratic Party.
