The Hon. Bart G. Altman is a judge for the Glynn County State Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench in 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Orion L. Douglass.
Prior to his election, Altman was a sole practitioner in his own private practice, where he handled criminal defense, products liability, personal injury, family law, probate, wills, and workmans’ compensation matters. Before that, he was an assistant public defender for the Glynn County Public Defender’s Office (1998 to 2000).
Altman earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Valdosta State University in 1993. He then completed a J.D. at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 1996.
After graduating from law school, Altman entered into private practice in Atlanta. He worked in that capacity until 1997, at which time he became an assistant district attorney for the Camden County District Attorney's Office.
