Hon. Brent D. Houston is a judge for the 22nd Judicial Circuit Court of Arkansas in Saline County. He was elected to the bench in 2020, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Grisham Phillips (Ret.).
Prior to his election, Houston spent four terms as the City Attorney for the City of Benton, a position to which he was elected in 2006. During that same year, he helped establish Jensen, Young & Houston, PLLC. Houston also served as a special judge in Saline County.
He received a B.A. in accounting, economics, and business administration from Ouachita Baptist University. Houston went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1992.
After graduating from law school, he briefly worked in private practice before going to work for various businesses. Houston then spent time as a deputy prosecuting attorney with the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in the late 90s. After his work as a prosecutor, he returned to private practice alongside Ray Baxter in Benton.
He was admitted to practice in Arkansas (1992), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas (1995), the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas (1995), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (2001), and the United States Supreme Court.
Houston is a past president of the Saline County Bar Association.
From a civic standpoint, he has been involved with the Benton-Bauxite Rotary Club, Habitat for Humanity, and the Central Arkansas Development Council.
Houston attended high school in Arkadelphia. He and his wife, Lisa, are parents to a set of twins. The family attends Northside Church of Christ.
