The Hon. Brian R. Aronson (Ret.) was a judge for the Sutter County Superior in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2003. At the time of his appointment, he filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Timothy J. Evans (Ret.). Aronson retired from the bench in December 2018 and his vacancy was filled by the Hon. Laura J. Davis.
Aronson received his B.A. from the University of Redlands in 1977. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1986.
Aronson began his legal career with a brief stint in private practice after graduating law school. He practiced as an associate at the law firm of Johnson and Hoffman where he handled insurance defense matters for one year.
He then entered the public arena in 1987, when he joined the Yolo County Public Defender's Office as a deputy public defender. Two years later he joined the Sutter County District Attorney's Office, where he would work as a deputy district attorney until his appointment to the bench in 2003.
During his tenure on the Superior Court, Aronson served as a Family and Juvenile Judge for five years and also presided in the Criminal Division beginning in 2009. He was named the Presiding Judge of the Court in 2015.
He was on the Board of Directors for The Acting Company.
Before beginning his legal career, Aronson held the distinction of being a champion on the Jeopardy! game show in 1978.
