The Hon. Bruce A. Romanick is a judge for the North Dakota South Central Judicial District. He was elected to the bench in 2000.
The South Central Judicial District includes Burleigh County, Emmons County, Grant County, McLean County, Mercer County, Morton County, Oliver County, Sioux County, and Sheridan County.
Prior to his election, Romanick was an assistant state’s attorney for the Burleigh County State’s Attorney’s Office, a position to which he was named in 1995. Before that, he spent time as an attorney in private practice in Moorhead (1992 to 1994).
Romanick earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in 1982. He then completed a J.D. at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1986. He is admitted to practice in North Dakota (1986), Colorado (1992), and Minnesota (1992).
After graduating from law school, Romanick entered into private practice in Washburn and Bismarck. He worked in that capacity until 1989.
Born in Washburn, North Dakota, Romanick is a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a judge advocate stationed in Fort Carson (Colorado) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1989 to 1992). He and his wife, Roxane, have two children.
