The Hon. Bryan M. Gelecki is a judge for the Doña Ana County Magistrate Court in New Mexico. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.
Prior to his election, Gelecki was a children’s court attorney for the New Mexico Department of Children, Youth & Families, a position to which he was named in 2021. Before that, he spent time with the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office, holding assignments as a trial attorney (2019 to 2020), a felony intake director (2020), and a senior trial attorney (2020 to 2021).
Gelecki earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and safety studies from Truman State University in 2008. He spent the next several years working as a compliance research analyst and a marketing specialist for the Medico Insurance Company before completing a J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2016.
After graduating from law school, Gelecki began his legal career as a contract attorney at Fraser Stryker in Omaha. He worked in that capacity until 2017, at which time he relocated to Las Cruces and joined the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He spent the next year working as a trial attorney and a children’s court attorney before returning to Omaha and entering into private practice at Messerli & Kramer.
He is registered as a Democrat.
