The Hon. Christopher J. Turner is a district magistrate for the 3rd Judicial District Court of Kansas in Shawnee County. He was appointed to the bench by the 3rd Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission in 2022.
Prior to his appointment, Turner managed his own private practice, the Law Office of Christopher J. Turner, in Topeka since 2019. He also served as Director of Enforcement Data and Judicial Outreach for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance in Washington, D.C. (2019 to 2022).
Turner received a B.A. in sociology and theology from Benedictine College in 1999. He then completed a J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 2018.
His memberships include the Sam A. Crow American Inn of Courts and the National Academy of Sciences. In addition, Turner is a member of the faculty at the National Judicial College.
Born and raised in Chanute, Kansas, Turner is a competitive tennis player, a tennis coach, and a tennis instructor. Before pursuing his legal career, Turner spent twenty-one years as a captain with the Kansas Highway Patrol. He joined the office in 1998.
