The Hon. Claire L. Borengasser (Ret.) served as a judge for the Fort Smith Division of the Sebastian County District Court in Arkansas. She retired on June 1, 2022.
Borengasser earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1975. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Borengasser began her legal career as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. She worked in that capacity until 1996. Borengasser also spent time as an attorney in the Law Offices of Charles Karr in Fort Smith. During her tenure there, she specialized in medical malpractice, product liability, wrongful death, negligence, employment, family, criminal defense, and oil and gas matters.
Her memberships have included the Sebastian County Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in Arkansas (1988), the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas (1996), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (1997).
Borengasser was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
