The Hon. Conrad I. Freeberg (Ret.) served as a judge for the 7th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. Freeberg was appointed to the bench by former Governor Tim Pawlenty in 2007, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Thomas Godzala. He retired on February 1, 2016.
The 7th Judicial District includes Becker County, Benton County, Clay County, Douglas County, Mille Lacs County, Morrison County, Otter Tail County, Stearns County, Todd County, and Wadena County.
Prior to his appointment, Freeberg worked for the Morrison County Attorney’s Office. He started as an assistant county attorney in 1984, quickly rising through the ranks to become its county attorney in 1987.
Freeberg earned a bachelor’s degree in history (1968) and a master’s degree in education (1970) from the University of St. Thomas. He then completed a J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 1980.
After graduating from law school, Freeberg began his legal career as an associate in the Rosenmeier Anderson Law Office in Little Falls. He worked in that capacity until 1984, at which time he joined the Morrison County Attorney’s Office.
Freeberg was a resident of Little Falls, Minnesota, at the time of his appointment. He and his wife, Mary Rae, have three children.
