Hon. Craig W. Alexander is a judge for the Allegany County Orphans’ Court in Maryland. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Larry Hogan in 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Donna F. May (Ret.).
At the time of his appointment, Alexander was the Chief Operating Officer for the Thomas B. Finan Hospital Center in Cumberland, Maryland (2016 to 2022). He first served there as its Chief Fiscal Officer for twenty-four years beginning in 1991 (1991 to 2015).
Over the course of his professional career, Alexander was a former auditor for the State of Maryland Legislative Auditors (1988 to 1991) and the administrator for the Allegany County Health Department (2015 to 2016). In addition, he held office as mayor of the Town of Midland, where he was also a member of the Town Council and the Volunteer Fire Company.
Alexander received an A.A. in business administration from Allegany College of Maryland (1982) and a B.S. in accounting from Frostburg State University (1987).
He also holds a certificate from the Academy for Excellence in Local Government (2012).
Alexander is a member of the Maryland Municipal League Hall of Fame.
