The Hon. Curtis Farber is an Acting Justice of the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the First Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to the Supreme Court bench in 2018 by the Hon. Lawrence K. Marks, Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York.
Justice Farber’s judicial career began in 2012 when he was appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to serve as a judge for the Civil Court of the City of New York. Then, the following year, he was appointed by Mayor Bloomberg to serve as a judge for the Kings County Criminal Court.
He received his B.A. from George Washington University in 1983. Farber went on to earn his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1986.
After graduating from law school, he first worked as an assistant district attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office from 1987 until 1992.
It was at that time, Farber entered into solo practice, where he practiced as a criminal defense attorney until his appointment to the Civil Court in 2012.
At the time of his appointment, Farber was residing in Manhattan, New York.
