The Hon. Dan K. Wiley is a judge for the 1st Judicial District Court of Kansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kathleen Sebelius in 2008.
The 1st Judicial District encompasses Leavenworth County and Atchison County. Over the course of his judicial career, Wiley played an instrumental role in the creation of the Leavenworth County Veterans Treatment Court.
Prior to his appointment, Wiley was a judge for the Leavenworth Municipal Court, a position to which he was named in 1997. Before that, he spent time as an attorney at Murray, Tillotson & Wiley.
Wiley earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Great Falls in 1990. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Kansas School of Law in 1992. As a law student, Wiley served on the University of Kansas Law Review.
He was licensed to practice in Kansas (1993) and Missouri (1994).
His memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, and the Leavenworth Bar Association. He has also been involved with the Leavenworth-Lansing Chamber of Commerce, Riverside Resources, and the Leavenworth County Veterans Day Parade.
Born in Lawrence, Kansas, Wiley attended Lawrence High School. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, spending his entire enlistment with the 341st Strategic Missile Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana. Wiley and his wife, Sonia, have two children.
