Hon. Dan Stidham is a judge for the Greene County District Court in Arkansas. He was elected to the bench as a part-time judge in 2000.
Stidham also presides over the Clay County District Court in Arkansas.
Over the course of his legal career, he also managed his own private practice, the Stidham Law Firm, P.A. (1988 to 2008), until becoming a full-time judge in 2008. In addition, Stidham spent time as a public defender.
He wrote a book about his experiences as a defense attorney in the West Memphis Three Murder case. The case also led to Stidham appearing on national television and in Time Magazine, and he has served as a frequent speaker on the subject.
He received a B.A. in sociology, psychology, and history from Arkansas State University in 1984. Stidham went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1987.
He was admitted to practice in Arkansas (1988) and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas (1989).
Stidham is a Certified Law Enforcement Instructor.
He was born in Harvey, Illinois. In his free time, Stidham enjoys reading, offshore fishing, and collecting antique fishing lures and vintage books. One of his antique books was published in 1635 and is one of only four known copies in the world.
