The Hon. Darren Allen is a judge for the Randolph County District Court in North Carolina. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.
Prior to his election, Allen was a general partner at Wilhoit Allen, a law firm he joined in 2021. Before that, he spent time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice (2017 to 2021).
Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Carolina University in 2002. He then completed a J.D. at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, in 2005.
After graduating from law school, Allen began his legal career as an associate at Gavin, Cox, Pugh & Wilhoit. He worked in that capacity until 2008, at which time he became a general partner at Wilhoit, Pugh & Allen. Then, in 2010, he was hired as an assistant district attorney by the Randolph County District Attorney’s Office.
Allen was born and raised in Asheboro, North Carolina. His family’s residence in Randolph County predates the American Revolution, with his ancestors being the founding members of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
He is registered as a Republican.
