The Hon. E.M. Wilkes, III (Ret.) is a senior judge for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit Superior Court in Georgia. Wilkes was appointed to the bench by former Governor Zell Miller on September 28, 1993, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Gordon Know, Jr. He retired on December 31, 2016.
The Brunswick Judicial Circuit is composed of Appling, Camden, Glynn, Jeff Davis, and Wayne Counties.
Wilkes earned a bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1972. He then completed a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law in 1975. He was admitted to practice in Georgia (1975) and the United States Supreme Court (1979).
He was a resident of Jeff Davis County at the time of his appointment.
