The Hon. Edward W. Lovato is a judge for the Sandoval County Probate Court in New Mexico. He was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.
Prior to his election, Lovato was an attorney at Lovato Law, a law firm he founded in 2017. His firm specialized in estate planning and elder law matters, handling living trusts, wills, power of attorney, family limited partnerships, and charitable gifting strategies.
Lovato earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration (corporate finance) from the University of New Mexico in 2010. He then completed a J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2017.
His memberships have included the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the New Mexico Guardianship Association, the New Mexico Estate Planning Council, the New Mexico State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
He has also been involved with the Rio Rancho Rotary Club, the City of Rio Rancho Planning & Zoning Commission, the Board of the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center, and the Board of Trustees of AMIKids Sandoval.
Lovato was a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, at the time of his election. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a field radio operator during Operation Iraqi Freedom and an air support officer during Operation Enduring Freedom. Lovato and his wife, Jessica, have two children.
