Hon. Elizabeth H. Martin (Ret.) was a judge for the 10th Judicial District Court of Minnesota. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arne Carlson. Martin retired on June 7, 2013.
The 10th Judicial District includes Anoka, Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Pine, Sherburne, Washington, and Wright Counties. During her judicial tenure, she held an assignment in Washington County.
Prior to beginning her judicial career, Martin was a shareholder at Doherty, Rumble & Butler (1987 to 1998), where she practiced in the Professional Association Litigation Department. She joined the firm in 1980. Before that, Martin was a legal services advisor for the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office.
She received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1970. Martin then spent three years as an English teacher in Duluth and one year as a lead intake social worker for the St. Joseph’s Home for Children before completing a J.D. at William Mitchell College of Law in 1980.
