The Hon. Eric C. Morgan is a judge for the Forsyth County Superior Court in the 21st Judicial District of the 4th Division in North Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Pat McCrory on November 3, 2014, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ronald Spivey.
Prior to his appointment, Morgan operated his own private practice in Kernersville, a law firm he opened in 1994. Before that, he spent time as a partner at Wells Jenkins Lucas & Jenkins and an associate at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. Morgan specialized in civil and commercial litigation, supplementing his practice by prosecuting felony child sexual abuse cases as a volunteer attorney with the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office.
Morgan earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia in 1987. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Texas School of Law in 1990.
His memberships have included the Board of Directors of the National Courts and Sciences Institute and the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association. He has also taught law and administration at Forsyth Technical Community College.
Born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Morgan graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School. He and his wife, Dawn, have three children. Dawn has served as the Mayor of Kernersville for over a decade. The family attends the First Baptist Church of Kernersville.
