The Hon. Erica Stanfield Brandon is a judge for the 17A Judicial District Court of North Carolina. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Roy Cooper in 2019, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Michael Gentry. Brandon holds the distinction of being the first African-American judge in Rockingham.
The 17A Judicial District includes Caswell and Rockingham Counties.
Brandon has presided over the Child Support Court and DSS Court. Prior to her appointment, she worked for almost ten years as an assistant district attorney with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office.
Brandon received a B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2005. She then completed a J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2008.
Brandon is registered as a Democrat.
