Hon. Forrest W. Burt (Ret.) was a judge for the Geauga County Court of Common Pleas (General Division) in Ohio. He joined the bench in 1995. Burt retired in 2018 after reaching the mandatory age of retirement.
He received a B.S. in secondary education and teaching from the Ohio State University in 1967. Burt went on to complete a J.D. at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1975.
Prior to joining the bench, he had worked for several years as an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Geauga County Prosecutor’s Office (1980 to 1994) and acted as a legal advisor to various townships and school districts in Geauga County.
After retiring from the bench, Burt hoped to travel with his wife, Jane, as well as spend more time with their two grown children.
During his judicial career, one case that resonated with him involved serial killer, Edward Wayne Edwards, who holds the distinction of being the only person Burt ever sent to death row.
