The Hon. Fred Gore is a judge for the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He was elected to the seat in 2020.
Prior to his election, Gore presided as a judge for the 13th Judicial District Court since 2014, which includes Bladen, Brunswick, and Columbus Counties. During that time, he was certified as a Juvenile Court judge.
Prior to beginning his judicial career, Gore was an assistant district attorney with the Office of the District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District since 2011. Before that, he worked as an assistant district attorney in Durham County.
While working as a prosecutor, he was a commissioned Judge Advocate General Officer in the North Carolina National Guard. His military service includes a deployment to Kuwait with the 113th Sustainment Brigade, serving as the chief prosecutor and officer in charge of the Brigade’s legal team. Before his deployment to Kuwait, Gore served as a non-commissioned officer in charge in Iraq (2006 to 2007). For his service, he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the Commander’s Coin for Performance. He holds the rank of Major.
Gore received a B.S.B.A. in business (marketing) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1998. He then spent several years working in the business sector before completing a J.D. at Appalachian School of Law in 2005. While a law student, Gore was selected for “Who’s Who of American Law Students” in 2003 and 2004.
His community service has included the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge #786; the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and the Executive Board of the Cape Fear Council of Boys Scouts of America.
The youngest of three children, Gore was raised in Supply, North Carolina, and attended West Brunswick High School. After graduating from high school, he joined the North Carolina National Guard as an infantry soldier.
Gore and his wife have twin sons. He is a member of Big Macedonia Baptist Church.
He is registered as a Republican.
