The Hon. Frederick C. Hany, II is a judge for the Probate and Juvenile Division of the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Kathleen L. Giesler.
Hany has held assignments on the Ohio Sentencing Commission, the Ohio Rules of Practice & Procedure Commission, and the Ohio Traffic Rules Commission (chairman).
Prior to his election, Hany presided as a judge for the Ottawa County Municipal Court, a position to which he was appointed in 1991.
His memberships have included the Oak Harbor Lions Club (president), the Ottawa County Visitors Bureau (president), and the Board of Trustees of Magruder Hospital. He has also been actively involved with the Port Clinton Community Band.
Hany earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1981. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Toledo College of Law in 1984.
He is married to Susan (Loeffler), a teacher at Oak Harbor High School. They have two daughters.
