The Hon. H.G. Foster is a judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Arkansas. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Mike Beebe in 2013.
The 20th Judicial Circuit includes Faulkner County, Searcy County, and Van Buren County. Over the course of his judicial career, Foster was instrumental in the creation of the Model Domestic Violence Collaborative Court.
Prior to his appointment, Foster was a special prosecuting attorney for the Arkansas Office of the Attorney General, a position to which he was named in 2006. Before that, he was the Prosecuting Attorney for the 20th Judicial District (1987 to 2006).
Foster earned a bachelor’s degree from Hendrix College in 1974. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law in 1977.
After graduating from law school, Foster entered into private practice as a sole practitioner. He worked in that capacity until 1987, supplementing his practice with service as a deputy prosecuting attorney in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 20th Judicial District.
His memberships have included the Special Team on the Prevention of Domestic Violence, the Faulkner County Board of Election Commissioners, the Arkansas Crime Information Center Supervisory Board, the Conway Regional Drug Task Force, the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorneys Association, and the Legislative Task Force on Abused and Neglected Children.
Raised in Faulkner County, Foster attended Conway High School. When not presiding over legal proceedings, he enjoys riding his old Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his Blue Heeler rescue dog.
He is registered as a Democrat.
