The Hon. H. Paul Canales (Ret.) served as a judge for the Bexar County Court at Law No. 2 in Texas. Canales was elected to the bench in 1988 and retired in 2010. He has continued to preside as a visiting judge for the Texas Judicial Branch.
Canales earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University in 1971. Then, in 1975, he completed a J.D. at Texas Tech University School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Canales joined the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney. Seven years later, he entered into private practice, where he handled civil and criminal matters until 1988.
Canales was raised in San Antonio. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. In his free time, he enjoys bicycling, reading, traveling, and playing chess.
He is registered as a Democrat.
